Main Character Monday Interview: Isaac Campbell

I’m so happy you’re here for another Main Character Monday as I interview Isaac Campbell from A Sweet Dream Come True by Sarah Anne Crouch. Isaac’s story is part of the Love in Any Season novella collection.

Welcome Isaac. Let’s start this off with a little more about you. What do we need to know?

I’m an ice cream man! Several months ago, I opened an ice cream shop in Bestwood, Tennessee. Before that, I lived in Nashville most of my life. My parents still live there, and my older sister Faith lives in Knoxville. That’s probably too much information, haha. Sorry!

Is there something readers might be surprised to learn about you?

I actually used to be an accountant, but I can make some really delicious ice cream.

Accountant to ice cream. That’s a big jump. What is your favorite book of the Old Testament?

I’ve been studying Joshua recently and found it really spoke to me. I just hope I can be as brave as Joshua some day.

Is there a book of the Bible you have trouble getting through?

I struggle with the genealogies, but James can hit a little too close to home sometimes, you know?

I think the genealogy struggle is a common one! I love it and not at the same time when a book hits close to home. If you could meet anyone from scripture, excluding Jesus, who would it be?

Peter. He must have some really amazing stories.

That would be a great conversation, I’m sure. Jesus had twelve disciples. Which one are you most like?

Probably Matthew, since I used to work with taxes, haha. But I wonder if he felt like an outsider sometimes. Maybe he struggled to fit in with the other disciples. I can sympathize with that.

I’ve never thought about him that way. Great insight. Jesus says we are to be His light in the world. What does this mean to you?

I try every day to give people a little joy. Ice cream can bring a smile to anyone’s face. And if I can provide that joy with the work I do and the way I treat people, I think I’m showing others the light of Christ.

If you could leave readers with one message, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid! Just like Joshua, we need to have courage and trust God to take care of us when we follow His commands.

Now, it’s time for some fun and rapid fire questions before we learn more about Sarah and where to find more about your story. If you could have a superpower, what one would you choose?

Super Strength. Or flight. Basically, I’d want to be Superman.

If offered the opportunity would you choose to travel in space?

Yes! Wouldn’t that be so amazing? Humbling and exciting all at the same time.

Dark or Milk Chocolate?

Milk Chocolate, but I’ve eaten some absolutely delicious dark chocolate truffles.

Roses or Daisies?

Roses, I guess. You could make a nice rose-flavored ice cream for Valentine’s Day. Maybe I should do that! Thanks for the idea. =)

Salad or Soup?

Soup for sure. Chili or Loaded Baked Potato Soup. Mmmm, now I’m hungry.

One final question. If you could describe Sarah Anne Crouch in three words, what would they be?

Loves Ice Cream (Not as much as I do, but almost.)

Thank you for a great interview, Isaac. And I want to thank Sarah Anne Crouch for allowing you to be a guest for this Main Character Monday interview. Now for a little more about Sarah.
