Main Character Monday Interview: Beth Norton
Welcome back to another Main Character Monday Interview. Today’s guest is from The Missing Piece a novella by Amy R. Anguish included in the Love in Any Season novella collection which releases tomorrow, September 27, 2022. Before we get to the interview, I want to encourage readers to be sure to check out the entire post. I’ve included information on a great online Scavenger Hunt you can participate in while celebrating this collection with the authors.
Now, on to our interview. Welcome, Beth Norton! Tell me a little about yourself?
I’m from Sassafras, AR and work with my mom at The Missing Piece, a little quilt shop she started with her friend Laura. I love to sew so this is perfect for me.
Tell me something about you that readers may find surprising?
I don’t like watermelon. This may not seem like a big thing to you, but our town is known for its Watermelon Festival, so it’s a pretty big deal to me.
I can see why that could be problematic. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Ephesians 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” I love the idea that God created us, just like I create quilts and other sewn items. I know the love and time and effort that goes into creating something, so this makes me feel extra special that He made me just the way I am.
That’s a great visual. Thank you for sharing it. Is there a person from the Bible that you relate to most?
Tabitha, maybe? She sewed to take care of others, just like Mama Laura did.
The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Is there one of these characteristics you find is easier to show than the others?
I’d like to think I’m pretty good at most of them, but I know that’s not true. Maybe joy? Or kindness? That’s a really hard question.
*Is there one that is more challenging than the others? Ugh. Um. Let’s go with patience. Is that too standard of an answer? I’m not always great at self-control, either.
If you could give one message to those reading this interview, what would you tell them?
Be super careful when sewing because someone could startle you and your thumb hurts a lot when it goes under the needle. Just trust me on this one.
Before we let you go for the day, I’d like to ask you some just for fun and rapid fire questions. First one. If you could visit just one place your entire life, where would you go?
Hawaii. Have you seen their quilts? They’re amazing. Not to mention, the islands sound nice, too.
I had no idea quilting in Hawaii was a thing. While the location might be one I hear a lot, your reasoning is completely unique. If you could choose one talent you don’t already have, what talent would you choose?
Being more organized. And don’t say it’s not a talent, because it totally is.
I would never argue that point. Some people just don’t think in ways that lead to organization. Now on to rapid fire questions.
Dark or Milk Chocolate? Milk
Beach or Mountains? Beach, obviously
Sweet Tea or Lemonade? Sweet Tea
And one final question. If you had only three words to describe Amy Anguish, what would they be? Relentless, Know-it-all, surprising
I want to thank Beth Norton for visiting with us today and Amy for allowing her to be here. Keep reading to find out more about The Missing Piece, Amy R. Anguish, and the Love in Any Season novella collection. Plus, stay tuned for more on the Love in Any Season Social Media Scavenger Hunt.
More About Amy and How to Connect with Her
Amy R Anguish grew up a preacher’s kid, and in spite of having lived in seven different states that are all south of the Mason Dixon line, she is not a football fan. Currently, she resides in Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and son, and usually a bossy cat or two. Amy has an English degree from Freed-Hardeman University that she intends to use to glorify God, and she wants her stories to show that while Christians face real struggles, it can still work out for good.

More About The Missing Piece
Tommy England comes back to Sassafras, AR after being gone seven years and can’t understand why childhood best friend, Beth Norton, is upset with him. As they work to save their quilt shop, prepare for the watermelon festival, and complete an unfinished quilt, their friendship regrows. Each stitch taken brings them closer to more than just a beautiful blanket—maybe even to finding their missing piece.
