  • Keeping it real today. This week has been a low wr Keeping it real today. This week has been a low writing week. Vacation's are great, but no matter how much you prep before you leave, you still play catch-up when you return. Starting my week off with a migraine didn't help either. 

But I'm giving myself grace this week. I've prepped things for conference at the end of this month, prepped things for vendor fairs this month, and worked on VA and podcast work. It's only my own stuff I've neglected. But tomorrow is another day.

    In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, I t In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, I thought some teacher trivia was in order. 

As readers and authors, I'm sure we all have those teachers who encouraged us along the way. I remember in third grade after lunch recess, our teacher would always read to us. That year we had a student teacher named Miss Taffel. I loved it when she read to the class. 

My senior year, I took two English classes because I graduated early and needed all four years' credit. I was so mad that they wouldn't let me take two honors English classes at the same time. However, teen drama and life situations caused me to be less than on top of things with my homework for a little bit. My senior English teacher, Mrs. Weldin took me aside, let me know she was worried about me, and gave me grace while still giving consequences. And while I was busy being all angsty (as teens sometimes are), she didn't get riled about the darker nature of some of my writing. She simply complimented me on my creative takes on the assignments and the "dark humorist" that lived inside me.

    I love meeting readers in person and being introdu I love meeting readers in person and being introduced to new readers. Whichever category you fall in, I'd love to meet up with you at one of these events. The first is a craft and vendor fair. The second is a wonderful opportunity to support not only a couple authors published with small presses but also show support for a great new Christian bookstore in our area.
